  1. Editorial Independence

Decisions to accept or reject manuscripts are made only by the Editor-in-Chief and the editors, on the basis of peer review and the journal's published policies. The publisher does not take part in, or overrule, editorial decisions. Article Processing Charges, waivers and advertising are handled by the publisher's staff separately from the editors and have no influence on whether a manuscript is published.

  1. Publisher Responsibilities
  • Provide the online submission, peer-review and publishing system, and keep it secure and available.
  • Publish accepted articles open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, with authors keeping their copyright.
  • Arrange long-term preservation of published content and keep the journal's records.
  • Support the editors in following the COPE Core Practices, including handling complaints, corrections, retractions and allegations of misconduct.
  • Publish the journal's policies, fees and contact details openly on the journal website and keep them up to date.
  • Protect the personal data of authors, reviewers and readers as described in the Privacy Statement.
  1. Consistency Across the Portfolio

The same core standards apply to every Somato Publications journal: open access, peer review, publication ethics, licensing, archiving and complaints handling.
