Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering Annals of Infectious Diseases and Therapy (AIDT). Please read these instructions in full before submitting. Manuscripts that do not follow them may be returned without review.

1. Before you submit

By submitting to AIDT you confirm that:

  • The work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another journal (preprints excepted — see the Preprint Policy).
  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria and have approved the submitted version.
  • Ethical approval and informed consent were obtained where required, and are stated in the manuscript.
  • All sources of funding and all conflicts of interest are disclosed.
  • You have read and agree to the journal's policies on ethics, licensing, and Article Processing Charges.

2. Article types and length

See Aims and Scope for the list of accepted article types and word limits.

3. Manuscript preparation

3.1 File format

Submit the main manuscript as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file. Use 12-point Times New Roman or Arial, double spacing, 2.5 cm margins, and continuous line numbers.

3.2 Language

Manuscripts must be in clear English (British or American, used consistently). Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have the manuscript checked before submission. Language editing is not a condition of acceptance and does not influence the editorial decision.

3.3 Title page (separate file)

  • Full title (≤ 25 words) and a short running title (≤ 60 characters)
  • Full names, highest degrees, ORCID iDs, and affiliations of all authors
  • Name, postal address, and email of the corresponding author
  • Word count (main text) and number of tables and figures
  • Funding statement
  • Conflict-of-interest statement
  • Author contribution statement (CRediT taxonomy recommended)
  • Acknowledgements

3.4 Anonymised main manuscript

Because review is double-blind, remove all author names, affiliations, and self-identifying statements from the main file. Cite your own prior work in the third person.

3.5 Structure

Abstract — structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions), ≤ 300 words, no citations. Keywords — 3 to 6, preferably MeSH terms. Main text — Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions. Reviews and perspectives may use free headings. Declarations — Ethics approval and consent; Consent for publication; Availability of data; Competing interests; Funding; Author contributions; Acknowledgements. References.

3.6 Reporting guidelines

Follow the relevant EQUATOR Network guideline and submit the completed checklist as a supplementary file: CONSORT (trials), STROBE (observational), PRISMA (systematic reviews), CARE (case reports), SRQR or COREQ (qualitative), CHEERS (economic evaluations), ARRIVE (animal studies). Clinical trials must give the registration number and registry.

3.7 Tables

Editable (not images), numbered consecutively, each with a title above and footnotes below. Place at the end of the manuscript or in the text where cited.

3.8 Figures

Submit as separate files: TIFF, EPS, or PDF for line art (≥ 600 dpi), TIFF or JPEG for photographs (≥ 300 dpi). Number consecutively; provide legends in the manuscript. Figures previously published require written permission from the copyright holder.

3.9 Units and abbreviations

Use SI units. Define each abbreviation at first use in the abstract and again in the main text.

3.10 References

Vancouver style, numbered in order of first citation, cited in the text as superscript or bracketed Arabic numerals. List up to six authors then et al. Include DOIs where available.

Smith J, Kumar A, Lee B, et al. Title of article. Journal Name. 2024;12(3):145-152. doi:10.xxxx/xxxxx

Unpublished data and personal communications go in the text, not the reference list.

3.11 Supplementary material

Data sets, extra tables, questionnaires, and multimedia may be submitted as supplementary files. They are peer reviewed and published as supplied.

4. Submission

Submit online at https://somatopub.com/index.php/AIDT/about/submissions. You will need:

  1. Cover letter (state article type, novelty, and any prior presentation)

  3. Anonymised manuscript
  4. Figures (separate files)
  5. Supplementary files, including the reporting checklist
  6. Copies of ethics approval on request

5. Editorial process

  1. Technical check (editorial office, 2–3 days): formatting, files, declarations, similarity screening with iThenticate.
  2. Editorial assessment (Editor-in-Chief / Associate Editor): scope, originality, and quality. Out-of-scope or clearly unsuitable manuscripts are declined at this stage.
  3. Double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.
  4. Decision: Accept; Minor revision; Major revision; Reject. The target time to first decision is 21 days.
  5. Revision: respond point by point and mark changes in the manuscript. Revisions are due within 30 days (minor) or 60 days (major).
  6. Acceptance, APC invoice, licence agreement.
  7. Production: copy-editing, typesetting, author proof (return within 48 hours), and online publication with a DOI.

See the Peer Review Policy for full details.

6. After acceptance

  • APC — see the Article Processing Charges page. Charges are invoiced only after acceptance and never influence the editorial decision.
  • Licence — the corresponding author signs a licence to publish under CC BY 4.0; copyright remains with the authors.
  • Proofs — check carefully; only errors may be corrected at proof stage.
  • Publication — the version of record is published on https://somatopub.com/index.php/AIDT and deposited with PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
