Advertising Policy

Annals of Infectious Diseases and Therapy may accept advertising to support open-access publishing. This policy ensures that advertising never affects editorial independence.

Principles

  • All advertising decisions are made by the publisher's commercial staff, independently of the editors. Editors are not involved in selling advertising and advertisers have no influence over editorial content or decisions.
  • Advertising is clearly distinguishable from editorial content and is labelled "Advertisement".
  • Advertisements are not placed adjacent to, or linked to, articles on the same product or subject.
  • Advertising is not targeted by reader behaviour on the site.
  • Acceptance of an advertisement is not an endorsement by the journal or the publisher.

Accepted advertising

Products and services relevant to infectious diseases and therapy — including conferences, courses, books, software, equipment, recruitment, and institutional announcements — from reputable organisations.

Not accepted

  • Advertising that is misleading, indecent, offensive, or unlawful;
  • Advertising for tobacco, e-cigarettes, alcohol, weapons, gambling, or products that are harmful to health;
  • Claims not supported by evidence or not compliant with the relevant regulator (e.g. medicines advertising without a marketing authorisation);
  • Political or religious advertising;
  • Advertising that mimics editorial content.

The publisher reserves the right to decline or withdraw any advertisement at any time.

Sponsored content and supplements

Sponsored supplements or special collections are peer reviewed to the same standard as regular content, carry a clear statement of the sponsor and the sponsor's role, and are not controlled by the sponsor. Sponsors do not select or approve content.

Complaints

Complaints about advertising are handled under the Complaints and Appeals Policy and reviewed by the publisher.
